About Us

Born and raised in Traverse City, MI I grew up rich in the spirit of community and nature. I still cherish the memories of long summer days at the beach and long summer nights chasing fireflies. Now after many years and many, many miles I have returned home to pursue and enhance that same spirit of community and nature I knew as a child. In all of my travels I have seen beautiful places and extraordinary things but one thing has always remained constant, whether it came in the form of a bonfire at waters edge or a candle lit dinner, a campfire on a chilly evening or a long soak in a hot bath surrounded by votives . Mans very first ally against the darkness and unknown and although we have come a long way since the days of cavemen the beauty and mystery of candlelight still remains.

I have always been a candle lover and have tried many different companies and many different kinds of candles but I was not pleased with having to constantly clean and paint my walls to remove the black, sticky soot that seemed to cling to everything, not to mention the wax that would end up spilled on my tables and even the carpet. So, I started looking for an alternative to the paraffin candles that I had been burning. That is when I found soybean wax.

Not much was know about making candles out of soy 10 years ago and you couldn’t find them in most stores so I decided to take up a new hobby and make my own and I have been doing it ever since. I spent two years perfecting my process and researching companies to find the best available fragrances before I felt my product was ready for public sale and my candles have now been in retail for 8 years. So, what started as a hobby has grown into a family owned and operated business on a small piece of farmland in Grand Traverse, MI.
